Phil was first introduced to dance music from watching SoulTrain on TV in the 70’s and going to Roller Rinks in the 80’s, which evolved into Phil becoming and early 1980’s Bboy (Breakdancer) turned DJ
In the mid 80’s the radio station WBMX and House Music took over the Dance music scene which was essentially the evolution of Disco.
1985 Phil bought his turntables and still DJ’s parties with Turntables and Vinyl upon request, although Digital technology has become the standard.
1986 Phil was DJing high school dance parties all over Chicagoland (See: Nostalgia)
1987 First Teen club residency at Sensations Teen Club Downers Grove
1988 Odyssey 1 Teen Club residency in Naperville
1990 DMC DJ Battle Midwestern (Finalist)
1992 Totos Battle of the DJ’s (1st place)
1993 B96 Chicago Mixer Search (2nd Place)
1997- 2000 resident DJ at Zero Gravity in Naperville/ Merrillville In., Metropolis Bar Indiana, and Elixir in Rockford, IL.
Throughout the 90’s and 2000’s, Phil DJ’d at Teen clubs, bars, and the underground house music (rave scene) all over Chicagoland while selling tens of thousands of Phil K Swift DJ mix CD’s and Cassettes. You may even own one yourself. (See Social Media tabs)
